Sopho Wins Udall Scholarship College of Liberal Arts and Sciences
Russo was one of just 14 sopho s, among 60 students nationwide, awarded the prestigious annual scholarship created by the the students.S. Congress to honor the Udalls, whose careers had a significant impact on the stewardship of public lands and natural resources. In addition to Russo, sopho honors student Amy Robinson was recognized with an Honorable Mention in this year’s Udall Scholars competition. Russo and Robinson follow in the footsteps of eight other students previously recognized in the scholarship competition. This year, the 15-member independent Udall review committee awarded scholarships to 60 sopho s and juniors from 49 colleges and universities from among 482 candidates nominated by 227 academic institutions. Each scholarship provides up to $7,000 for the Scholar’s junior or senior year.
Goldwater Udall Scholarships
These scholarships are presented by the Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Foundation. The scholarships are presented by the Morris K. The Goldwater Scholarship and Udall Scholarship are highly prestigious and substantial financial awards given to students in Science, Math or engineering and Environmental Science
The Udall Foundation honors the legacies of Morris Udall and Stewart Udall and awards scholarships to college sopho s and juniors for leadership, public service, and commitment to issues related to Native American nations or to the environment. Udall Scholars are given the tools necessary to become the next generation of leaders across a wide spectrum of environmental fields or Native American issues. Scholars receive up to $7,000 for academic expenses, are invited to attend a five-day orientation in Tucson, AZ, and become part of the Udall Alumni Network.
Udall Scholarships provide up to $5,000, or the cost of fees, books, room and board, whichever is less, to sopho s who have demonstrated a strong academic record of an outstanding potential for leadership. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of two groups of students: those who study the environment or a related field and those with Native American or native Alaskan backgrounds with an interest in health care or tribal policy.
Arkansas Native Plant Society The Society promotes 1) the preservation, conservation, study, and enjoyment of the native plants of Arkansas, 2) the education of the public regarding the value of native plants and their habitats, and 3) the publication of related information.

Center for Environmental Justice and Sustainability
The Doris Duke Conservation Scholars Program at the University of Washington. Conservation scholars explore conservation across themes of climate,water, food and ecosystems of the Pacific Northwest. By exploring intersections of biodiversity conservation and environmental justiceacross both urban and rural contexts, emerging scholars develop skills and perspectives that deepen their understanding of their relationship to healthy lands and waters. Doris Duke Conservation Scholars will have all travel, food and lodging paid during their 8-week summer experience and will receive a stipend of $4,000 in each of the two years for a total of $8,000.
