National Fellowship Program

Chapin has published articles in Studies in American Political Development and the Journal of Policy History. While scholars of environmental policy, American business, or working-class communities have tended to analyze the history of each subfield separately, this project draws on the history of capitalism, critical geography, and interdisciplinary studies of regulation to argue that the shared history of policymakers, business people, and workers did not unfold in insolated silos. The dissertation augments the burgeoning historical literature on the American carceral state, and demonstrates that in order to understand the vast scope of modern coercive state power, scholars must consider the dense legal terrain of American cities, and account for the considerable power wielded by local policing institutions to define the boundaries of legality.

The Development Fund for Black Students in Science and Technology is an endowment fund which provides scholarships to African-American students who enroll in scientific or technical fields of study at Historically Black Colleges and Universities NSBE and Corporate-sponsored scholarship and award opportunities for pre-college, collegiate and graduate student, and technical professional members.

Scholarships and Special Funds Yale University

Preference for this scholarship is given to students from the Baptist tradition, particularly African American students and students from other underrepresented ethnic groups. The scholarship is awarded with a preference for African American students. The Bishop Benjamin Tibbetts Kemerer Scholarship honors the former Episcopal bishop of Duluth, who worked with local Native American Episcopalians in the 1930s. The scholarship is to benefit students who wish to integrate the study of environmental issues and faith in their professional lives and those who wish to study the cultural and ethical dimensions of environmental problems. Preference for this scholarship is given to students with a demonstrated interest in and commitment to African American religious traditions.

James W.Stoudt Memorial Scholarships Pennsylvania Bar Foundation

Ms. Berkstresser is a law student representative for the PBA YLD, the vice president of the American Association for Justice and a member of the Dickinson’s Public Interest Law Fund and Public Interest Loan Repayment Assistance Committee.

Funding Resources

The scholarship is awarded to students from the metro Washington, D.C., area, with a preference for students of African-American descent. American Association of University Women AAUW awards fellowships to underrepresented minority women who intend to pursue a full-time course of study in an MBA program. American Indian Community House The American Indian Community House provides financial awards based on a needs assessment and include: tuition assistance, books supplies, and stipends.

Minorities

Applicants must be currently enrolled as an or graduate student at a university for the academic year pursuing a computer science or computer engineering degree, or a degree in a closely related technical field and be a student from an underrepresented group in computer science (African American, Hispanic, American Indian, or female. The predoctoral fellowships provide three years of support for individuals engaged in graduate study leading to a Doctor of Philosophy or Doctor of Science degree. College Scholarships for Asian or Pacific Islander Americans — $2,500 to $5,000. The nation largest non-profit organization that provides scholarships to exceptional Asian and Pacific Islander Americans with financial need. Attracts qualified students who are also in underrepresented minority categories to graduate study in areas of interest to the semiconductor industry.

Endowed Scholarships

The recipient of this scholarship must be a member of Black River Electric Cooperative residing within the nine-county service area consisting of parts of Bollinger, Cape Girardeau, Dent, Iron, Madison, Perry, Reynolds, Shannon, and Wayne Counties, or a member of the immediate family of a Black River Electric Cooperative member living within the household of the member. The Bolen Scholarship is available to a student enrolled in a course of study leading to a Bachelor of Science in Education in one of the disciplines in the College of Science and Technology. This scholarship is open to students with 60 or credit hours completed when scholarship is awarded who are enrolled in a course of study leading to a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Performing Arts degree.
