Proposal Development

The purpose of this funding opportunity is to support the development of rapid, sensitive, specific, simple, and cost-effective fungal diagnostics for primary health-care settings It will also encourage inter and multidisciplinary collaborations among scientists in a wide range of disciplines including nutritional science, immunology, microbiomics, genomics, other '-omic' sciences, biotechnology, and bioinformatics.

Training Grant in Bioinformatics Computational Biology Bioinformatics

This grant provides first-year fellowships to prepare PhD students for careers in the molecular life sciences who will support the advances now underway in modern medicine. These scholarships are awarded at the time of admission and do not require a separate application.

The Bioinformatics Training with Industry Support and Engagement project is funded through the generous support of the National Science Foundation S-STEM Scholarship program. To be considered for this scholarship, qualified students must bioinformatics and computational biology program by March 15 and document financial need by providing SLU access to a current-year FAFSA report.

To be eligible for consideration, a student must be a the students.S. citizen, at least twenty-one years of age, and enrolled in an accredited institution of higher education pursuing a graduate or degree in environmental science, natural resource management, biology, public policy, geography, political science, or related disciplines. The research grant enables a student in biology, horticulture, or a related field to conduct field research.Preference is given to students whose projects focus on the endangered flora of the Carolinas and the southeastern United States. The awards are given to the graduate student submitting the best research proposal dealing with systematic botany, biosystematics, plant ecology, or plant conservation biology.
