Entrance Exit Counseling
There are two types of loan counseling and they take place at different stages of the loan process. Entrance counseling helps students understand the rights and responsibilities of their loans before they incur the loan debt. Students borrowing Federal Direct Student Loans who haven't previously received a Federal Direct Student Loan at Saint Mary's College must complete entrance counseling before Saint Mary's can make the first disbursement of the loan. Entrance loan counseling for direct loans is only needed once during a student's academic career at Saint Mary's College. At Saint Mary's, students must complete entrance loan counseling for Perkins Loans every year in which a student receives a Perkins Loan.
Entrance Exit Counseling University of Michigan Office of Financial Aid
Entrance Counseling is required to help borrowers understand their responsibilities in taking out a loan. It offers information the loan process, managing education expenses, suggests other resources and shares rights and responsibilities. This interactive counseling session and quiz helps students develop budgets for managing educational expenses and also understand their loan responsibilities. Applicant must complete the counseling and before their loan funds can be disbursed to applicant. Note: This is not the same as the federal Financial Awareness Counseling Tool which can be found on the same site. Entrance counseling is not required for most PLUS Loan borrowers. Students with Perkins and Nursing Health Professions loans must complete a different exit counseling process through the the students-M Student Loan Collections office.
Student Loan Entrance and Exit Counseling
Federal regulations and institutional policy require all students who borrow through the Federal Direct Stafford and Graduate PLUS Loan Programs for their medical education to complete loan entrance and exit counseling. NOTE: Unlike Federal Direct Stafford entrance counseling, Federal Perkins Loan entrance counseling must be completed each year applicant are awarded a Federal Perkins Loan. Students who have been awarded funds through the Primary Care Loan Program must complete entrance counseling and electronically sign both the PCL promissory note and truth-in-lending disclosure statements before the loan funds can be disbursed. All graduating students who have borrowed Primary Care Loan funds must complete exit counseling in their fourth-year in accordance with federal regulations.
Remember: applicant are obligated to repay their loan regardless of whether applicant complete their education, are satisfied with their education, or are able to find a job. Federal Direct Loans are loans offered by the Education to help applicant pay for their education. If applicant are a first-time Direct Loan borrower at CSU Long Beach, applicant will need to complete two requirements before their loan funds can be released: Direct Loan Entrance Counseling and Master Promissory Note for a Subsidized Unsubsidized Loan Entrance Counseling will explain their rights and responsibilities as a borrower and the MPN is an agreement by which applicant agree to repay the loan, including any interest and fees, to their lender.
The university strongly encourage applicant to speak to their financial aid counselor if this is the case. Their financial aid counselor is assigned based on their last name. If applicant have not yet borrowed through the Direct Loan Program, applicant will be required to complete a new Master Promissory Note and complete the Entrance Counseling Session. If applicant have previously borrowed through the Direct Loan Program and applicant signed the Master Promissory Note less than 10 years ago, applicant will only be required to complete the Entrance Counseling Session for the first year in which applicant borrow at the graduate level.
Students receiving Direct Subsidized and or Unsubsidized Loans and Graduate PLUS Loans through the Education, must complete Entrance Loan Counseling. In addition to Federal Direct Unsubsidized and or FFEL Loan entrance counseling, graduate students borrowing a Graduate PLUS Loan must also complete Graduate PLUS entrance counseling. It is possible for a Graduate PLUS loan borrower to complete both entrance counseling and PLUS credit counseling. Applicant will need to complete entrance counseling and a Federal Direct Loan Master Promissory Note only once to cover all Federal Direct Subsidized and or Unsubsidized Loans that applicant borrow for up to 10 years, and once for Graduate PLUS Loans or Parent PLUS loans that are not endorsed.

New scholarship for Counselor Education students at AUM. Hard establishes scholarship for students enrolled in Counselor Education. To be eligible to receive consideration for the David Fancher Hard Award, a student must be admitted to Auburn University at Montgomery and be accepted to the Counselor Education Program, have a GPA of 2.5, demonstrate financial need, and be a resident of the State of Alabama.
Entrance Exit Counseling
First time Federal Direct Loan and Federal Perkins Loan borrowers at Auburn Montgomery must complete a loan entrance counseling before funds can be disbursed. Exit counseling helps students understand their rights and responsibilities as student loan borrowers. The exit counseling session will provide useful tips and information to help manage student loans, including repayment plans and estimated monthly payments. Students that borrowed Federal Direct Stafford or Federal Direct Graduate PLUS loans under the Federal Direct Loan Program or Federal Family Education Loan Program are required to complete exit counseling when departing from Auburn Montgomery. Students that borrowed Federal Perkins loans must complete exit counseling when they depart from Auburn Montgomery. The exit counseling helps ensure students understand their rights and responsibilities as TEACH Grant recipients.
