Glossary of NIH Terms

Assistance relationships are expressed in less detail than are acquisition relationships , and responsibilities for ensuring performance rest largely with the recipient or are shared with the Government. A Financial Management Plan, also known as Funding Policy, is a policy to establish consistency in funding which specifies levels for items such as the payline, programmatic reductions, and caps for re-competing grants. U-M LSA Office of National Scholarships and Fellowships

Scoville Fellows may focus on arms control and nonproliferation, conflict prevention and resolution, defense budget, diplomacy, environmental and energy security, terrorism prevention, and other international security issues.The fellowship recruits from across the the students.S. twice a year and provides a salary, benefits, travel expenses to DC for interviews and moving, in addition to a small stipend for attending conferences, policy courses, and foreign language classes. The Urban Fellows Program NYC is a highly selective, nine-month fellowship which combines work in Mayoral offices and City agencies with an intensive seminar series that explores current urban issues impacting public policy.

The Whitney and Betty MacMillan Center for International and Area Studies at Yale

The Georg Walter Leitner Program in International and Comparative Political Economy invites applications from graduate and students at Yale University whose work focuses on international political economy. Henry Hart Rice Foreign Residence Fellowships provide support for Yale students in the humanities and social sciences to conduct individual study and research for 9 to 12 months while in residence in a foreign country that is experiencing strained relations with the United States. MacMillan International Dissertation Research Fellowships support Ph.D. students engaged in international research on their doctoral dissertations. The MacMillan Center Pre-Dissertation Grants provide funds to Ph.D. candidates for pre-doctoral dissertation research generally outside the the students.S. addressing international relations, history or the social sciences.

Ruth L.Kirschstein National Research Service Awards for Individual Predoctoral Fellows

Applicants requesting fellowship support for foreign research training must demonstrate in the application that the foreign institution and sponsor offer unique opportunities and clear scientific advantages that are not currently available in the United States. All NIH awards are subject to the terms and conditions, cost principles, and other considerations described in the NIH Grants Policy Statement (see also Section VI.3. Concurrent Awards: A Kirschstein-NRSA fellowship may not be held concurrently with another federally sponsored fellowship or similar Federal award that provides a stipend or otherwise duplicates provisions of this award. To encourage JD students to engage in international study, the Center for International Legal Education offers fellowships for students pursuing study, research, or internships abroad. Scholarship for innovative international opportunities that fosters the appreciation of and better understanding among different cultures generally to promote peace and community development. The Fellowship is an educational program for 24 American and European graduate students the changing international dynamics of diplomacy and diversity. Scholarships for intensive overseas study in the critical need foreign languages of Arabic, Bangla Bengali, Chinese, Hindi, Korean, Persian, Punjabi, Russian, Turkish, and Urdu. Scholarships for intensive summer language institutes in which students will learn languages of critical importance to current the students.S. foreign affairs.
