Foreign Language and Area Studies Fellowships
FLAS Fellowships are awarded to students for a formal UC Berkeley or overseas academic program of full-time study during the academic year, including language and area international studies courses. Graduate students wishing to use an award for a formal study abroad program must be at the intermediate or advanced level of language proficiency, or at the beginning level if an appropriate beginning language program is not available in the the students.S. Prior approval from the the students.S. Education is required for all FLAS language study abroad. Center for Latino a Latin American Studies Receives Tinker Foundation Grant for Graduate Student
The grants are to assist master’s and doctoral students with travel and field-related expenses for brief periods of field research in Latin America. The grant will serve as seed money to enhance CLLAS’s support for graduate student research in Latin America. There are currently at least 30 graduate students in residence at the UO conducting doctoral research in the area of Latin American studies in various departments.
2017 Tinker Field Research Grant and CLLAS Graduate Research Grant
The Center For Latino a and Latin American Studies is excited to announce the first round of Tinker Field Research Grants in Latin American Studies. CLLAS invites graduate students to submit proposals for field research in Latin America CLLAS expects to award at least six grants for up to $4,000 each to advance research for either master’s or pre-dissertation doctoral candidates. Financial Aid for M.A. and Ph.D. Graduate Students Roger Thayer Stone Center For Latin
Stone Center Summer Research Fellowships are awarded on a competitive basis for research projects in Latin America. Graduate students from any discipline may as long as their research has a Latin American focus. With funding for the the students.S. Education’s Title VI program, the Stone Center for Latin American Studies is able to offer a special fellowship program to a select group of students. There are awards available for both the academic year as part of the regular admissions process and for summer intensive language study for currently enrolled graduate students.

Mitchell Scholars Program: Competitive awards for applicants distinguished by academic excellence, leadership, and a sustained commitment to service and community, to pursue one year of postgraduate study at an institution of higher learning in Ireland or North Ireland, in any discipline they offer Classical Studies are embraced by many. Lionel Pearson Fellowship: Competitive awards for outstanding students majoring in Greek, Latin, Classics, or closely related fields at any American or Canadian college or university, to broaden and develop their knowledge of Greek and Latin literature in the original languages by undertaking a year of postgraduate study at an English or Scottish university.
Outside Agency Scholarships
Since MALDEF’s founding, the civil rights organization has furthered its mission to advance Latino civil rights by awarding scholarships to law students who similarly seek to advance Latino civil rights through their careers. Applicants are evaluated based on four main factors: 1) personal background and financial need 2) academic and extracurricular achievement 3) demonstrated commitment to serving the Latino community, shown through academic, extracurricular, or professional record of service and 4) future plans to advance the rights of Latinos. Finnish and American law students are eligible for an award from the P.J.C. Lindfors Legal Studies Fund administered by FFN.

Office of Distinguished Scholarships
Scholars design their study experience by choosing one of six academic concentrations that direct their electives and field studies. The Gates Cambridge enables academically outstanding students from outside the United Kingdom, with a strong interest in social leadership and responsibility, to pursue graduate study at the storied university. Benjamin Kompa, a fourth-year student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, has been named a recipient of the prestigious Churchill Scholarship, a research-focused award that provides funding to outstanding American students for a year of master’s study in science, mathematics and engineering at Churchill College, based at the University of Cambridge in England.
