Financial Aid for M.A. and Ph.D. Graduate Students Roger Thayer Stone Center For Latin

Stone Center Summer Research Fellowships are awarded on a competitive basis for research projects in Latin America. Graduate students from any discipline may as long as their research has a Latin American focus. With funding for the the students.S. Education’s Title VI program, the Stone Center for Latin American Studies is able to offer a special fellowship program to a select group of students. There are awards available for both the academic year as part of the regular admissions process and for summer intensive language study for currently enrolled graduate students.

Outside Agency Scholarships

Since MALDEF’s founding, the civil rights organization has furthered its mission to advance Latino civil rights by awarding scholarships to law students who similarly seek to advance Latino civil rights through their careers. Applicants are evaluated based on four main factors: 1) personal background and financial need 2) academic and extracurricular achievement 3) demonstrated commitment to serving the Latino community, shown through academic, extracurricular, or professional record of service and 4) future plans to advance the rights of Latinos. Finnish and American law students are eligible for an award from the P.J.C. Lindfors Legal Studies Fund administered by FFN.

UT College of Liberal Arts

MALS does not typically offer assistantships to first-year graduate students in the Master of Art degree program in Mexican American and Latina o Studies.

Funding For Students

US Education Foreign Language and Area Studies Fellowships provide $10,000 in tuition and a $5,000 stipend for students in any discipline for intensive language study at Stanford during the academic year. Academic year FLAS Fellowship in Latin American studies. Academic year fellowships provide full tuition for the academic year and a $15,000 stipend for graduate students undergoing advanced training in designated foreign languages in combination with Latin American Studies and international aspects of professional studies The term of a fellowship is for one academic year. East Asian studies fellowship for study of women in Asia. The Center for Latin American Studies invites proposals for Stanford graduate students to attend and present on topics related to Latin America at academic conferences.

College Scholarships Awards

The Center for Latino Studies endeavors to hold a scholarship competition once per year, as funds permit. The goal of this scholarship is to reduce the financial burden of earning a degree through UHD, and simultaneously to encourage broad student engagement with contemporary and historic issues facing Latino communities. Any degree-seeking UHD student is eligible to for the Center for Latino Studies scholarship. The Center for Latino Studies will identify a particular theme to structure each scholarship competition.

Queer Peer Services

NWSA Graduate Scholarships in Lesbian Studies This award provides financial assistance to graduate students doing a Master’s thesis or Ph.D. dissertation research in lesbian studies. Winners receive $1,000 scholarships for study in queer theory or a related field such as queer medical, legal, or social issues. Ric Ulrich and Chuck Pischke Scholarship for candidates intending studies that involve visual arts and design. Daniella Altfeld no Scholarship for Latino Latina youth under age 25 with a preference for students involved in athletics. Scholarships for African American students, Hispanic and Latino students, Native American students, Asian and Pacific Islander students, Arab American students, Undocumented students, First Generation Students, and LGBTQIA students.

MSW Student Scholarships

This scholarship is awarded to a student currently conducting their field placement at the Counseling Mental Health Services. They created this scholarship to provide for MSW students.

Industry Scholarships

The scholarships are awarded to students based on outstanding creative talent. The scholarship program is funded by DDB Worldwide Communications Group, Inc. This fund was established by Euro RSCG New York in honor of the late Patrick Kelly, with the intention of recognizing the accomplishments and potential of an aspiring young creative. The purpose of The Paul Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans is to provide opportunities for continuing generations of able and accomplished New Americans to achieve leadership in their chosen fields.

Languages, Literatures, and Cultures

Some scholarships are co-sponsored with the Latin American, Lati Iberian Studies. J.R. Francis ScholarshipApplication Closed This scholarship is need and merit based and is awarded to a French major or minor for study on campus or abroad. Gotaas Memorial ScholarshipApplication Closed This scholarship is need based and is awarded to a Westhampton College student majoring in Arabic Studies, Chinese Studies, French, German Studies, Italian Studies, Latin American, Lati Iberian Studies, Russian Studies, or minoring in Japanese Studies. This scholarship is merit based and may be used for a study abroad program lasting a full academic year. University-endowed scholarship funds can only be used to participate in study abroad programs sponsored by the University of Richmond.

The Foreign Language and Area Studies Fellowship is a highly competitive the students.S. Education grant that provides graduate and fellowships for students to pursue intensive training in modern languages and related area or international studies. A limited number of awards may be provided to graduate students for the advanced study of Spanish. Graduate students: The Academic Year FLAS fellowship provides a nine-month stipend of $15,000 and pays tuition and course-related fees Students: The Academic Year FLAS fellowship includes a nine-month stipend of $5,000 plus cost of tuition and course-related fees up to $10,000 per academic year During the fellowship period, FLAS recipients must be enrolled in at least three hours of language instruction and at least one relevant area studies course during each long semester.
