NSF Astronomy and Astrophysics Postdoctoral Fellowships

Award offers for the NSF Astronomy and Astrophysics Postdoctoral Fellowships are normally made on or around February 1. NSF Astronomy and Astrophysics Postdoctoral Fellowships provide an opportunity for highly qualified, recent doctoral scientists to carry out an integrated program of independent research and education. Fellows may engage in observational, instrumental, theoretical, laboratory or archival data research in any area of astronomy or astrophysics, in combination with a coherent educational plan for the duration of the fellowship.

John Bahcall Public Policy Fellowship

As the first John Bahcall Public Policy Fellow, Jeremy Richardson coordinated public policy and government relations activities for the AAS, tracked federal funding for astronomy research, and led grass-roots lobbying efforts.

Graduate Assistantships, Scholarships Fellowships Physics and Astronomy

Of Physics Astronomy for a total stipend of ~$19,000 per year for two master’s academic years or four doctoral academic years. Of Physics Astronomy for a total stipend of ~$19,000 for one academic year plus a full tuition waiver and health insurance. The NASA Earth and Space Science Fellowship program awards $30,000 per year for up to three years to support graduate students in basic and applied research in Earth science and space science, including astrophysics.

Postdoctoral Fellowships

Recent Ph.D. recipients in atomic and molecular physics, geophysics, the solar system, astronomy, astrophysics or cosmology, with interests in theory, observation, instrumentation and or laboratory research are invited to apply for the CfA Postdoctoral Fellowship. The university seek individuals who will develop and carry out an independent research program in astronomy, and whose research will also contribute to increasing representation and inclusion in these fields through teaching, mentoring, research advising, and public outreach.

Graduate Fellowships

Designated funds from the National Academy of Sciences allow for grants of up to $2,500 for astronomy or vision related research. Applications are invited from disciplines with a large dependence on field studies, such as archeology, anthropology, astrobiology and space science, biology, ecology, geography, geology, and paleontology, but grants will not be restricted to these fields. Modest short term awards are offered to advanced graduate students and postdoctoral researchers who are commencing their careers in the fields of zoology, paleontology, anthropology, astrophysics and earth and planetary sciences.

Marshak-New Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Rochester

In addition to research grants, funding for Marshak Fellowship and Scienetist positions is provided by the University of Rochester Physics and Astronomy Marshak Fund, the University of Rochester Laboratory for Laser Energetics, and the University of Rochester Fusion Science Center.

Graduate Funding Opportunities Chemistry

Fellowships offer postdoctoral research oppoprtunities in earth science, heliophysics, planetary science, astrophysics, space bioscience, aeronautics and engineering, human exploration and space operations, and astrobiology. Fellowships support graduate students in astronomy, chemistry, computer science, geology, materials science, mathematical sciences, physics, and their subdisciplines, and related engineering fields: chemical, computer, electrical, environmental, mechanical.
