Boren Fellowships, an initiative of the National Security Education Program, provide unique funding opportunities for US graduate students to study less commonly taught languages in world regions critical to US interests, and underrepresented in study abroad, including Africa, Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin America, and the Middle East. Clarendon Scholarships aim to give the most academically able students not only the life-changing opportunity to study at Oxford, but also the chance to form lasting social, academic, and professional networks. The Critical Language Scholarship Program is a fully funded overseas summer language and cultural immersion program for American students. CLS provides study opportunities to a diverse range of students at every level of language learning.

Grants, Scholarships Study Opportunities in the Nordic Countries

Students wishing to use an award for an overseas language program must be at the intermediate or advanced level of language proficiency, or at the beginning level if a beginning language program in the target language is not available in the the students.S. Summer FLAS for language study abroad requires the students.S. Education approval of the instructional program and travel itinerary. The Icelandic Ministry of Education, Science and Culture awards annually a number of scholarships for studies in Icelandic as a second language at the University of Iceland, Reykjavík. Education Abroad Financial Aid and Scholarships

The Sherry L Jones Study Abroad Education Scholarship was established to assist students with a study abroad opportunity. Criteri Must be majoring in a course of study in the College of Education must be enrolled in a study abroad program through BGSU must demonstrate financial need. The Wurzburger Memorial Scholarship for Education Abroad was established to provide support for members of the French Learning Community to study abroad in a French-language program. Be at or near an advanced level in the language as defined in the grant guidelines Able to devote oneself exclusively to full-time language study during the term of the grant.

Scholarship Information

The scholarship winner may choose to study majors including Chinese Language and Literature, Chinese History and Chinese Philosophy. A written commitment stating that the applicant will be engaged in Chinese language teaching for at least 5 years after graduation Winners of preliminary rounds of the Chinese Bridge Proficiency Competitions in their countries shall provide award proof and reference letter provided by the organizers. Those ing for the Scholarship for Students of One-Academic-Year Master’s Degree in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages are required to provide the agreement signed with the Confucius Institute or the institute which they will be working for.

Fellowships, Scholarship and Grants

Blake Freeman Fellowships for Advanced Asian Language Study: Awarded for one year of full-time advanced language study in East or Southeast Asia, either in structured language or private tutorial programs, where the primary focus is on study of the modern language. Awards are available in all fields of study. SEE-Beyond Awards encourage students to engage with their academic programs through summer research, internships, artistic residencies, study abroad, and . Aside from business and marketing internships, ISA has opportunities available in all other fields of study, as well as group internship programs for institutions in the the students.S. and Canada.

Fellowships Scholarships

The Smith Richardson Foundation sponsors an annual World Politics and Statecraft Fellowship program, its annual grant competition to support PhD dissertation research on American foreign policy, international relations, international security, strategic studies, area studies, and diplomatic and military history. Fellowship and Award Opportunities

Each year the Humanities Initiative generally offers three Research Fellowships to graduate students in the humanities and art disciplines, including but not limited to history, art history, music, philosophy, cultural studies, literary and language studies, religious studies, drama and performance studies, cinema studies, and gender studies. Jensen Fellowship is awarded for at least six months of study in France. The purpose of the award is to help educators and researchers improve education in standard French language, literature and culture and in the study of standard French in the United States. Academic Year FLAS fellowships are for students engaged in a domestic or overseas program of full-time language and area or international studies coursework. The Graduate Studies Committee will review the applications and choose the award recipient.

Second Language Studies

The Second Language Studies has a number of scholarship funds that support student research and conference travel. Graduate Assistantships in the Second Language Studies. First-semester MA students usually do not receive a Graduate Assistantship, and Advanced Graduate Certificate in Second Language Studies candidates are not eligible. Recipients of the East-West Center Graduate Degree Fellowship are not eligible for Graduate Assistantships in the Second Language Studies. Enrolled MA and PhD students in the Second Language Studies are eligible to apply for Graduate Assistantships in other departments across the university.
