Joint PhD Program Funding

The Rackham Predoctoral Fellowship supports outstanding doctoral students who have achieved candidacy and are actively working on dissertation research and writing. This award provides two scholarships, one for students in the MSW program and one for the students in the Joint PhD Program who have interest in social policy or community organization.

Bernadette Gray-Little Doctoral Fellowship

The Fellowship will provide to outstanding students in the first year of their doctoral programs at the University. Students funded by the Self Graduate Fellowship, University Graduate Fellowship, or the Chancellor’s Doctoral Fellowship are not eligible. The nomination for this award matches the nomination process for the Chancellor’s Doctoral Fellowship. The form will ask individuals to select the fellowship for which the student is being nominated the options are the Bernadette Gray-Little Doctoral Fellowship and the Chancellor’s Doctoral Fellowship. The Bernadette Gray-Little Doctoral Fellowship is made possible through the generosity of donors and the KU Endowment Executive Committee.

Chancellor Doctoral Fellowship

This prestigious fellowship recognizes students who exemplify the Chancellor’s values for doctoral education, including academic excellence, research productivity, an ability to communicate the value of their research to a broad audience, and a vision for leadership within the Fellow’s field of study. The Chancellor’s Doctoral Fellowship provides selected Fellows with a yearly $31,000 stipend for four years, in addition to tuition, fees, and a 75% subsidy of the student health insurance plan premium. The Chancellor’s Doctoral Fellowship employs a cohort model, welcoming four new Fellows each year. To be considered for a Chancellor’s Doctoral Fellowship, a new applicant to KU must be nominated by a department as a candidate for the award.

Scholarships Development and Alumni Relations

Scholarship funds allow us to offer financial assistance to top prospects with diverse backgrounds and experiences, ensuring that financial barriers will not deter top applicants from pursuing a Northwestern University medical degree. $213 million is the current value of Northwestern scholarship endowment. With an immediate-use gift in support of scholarships, applicant can see their philanthropy in action. These expendable gifts create new scholarship funds and last until all principal funds are distributed to students. With a commitment of $50,000 or donors are invited to name the scholarship. Endowed scholarships stipulate that their gift will be invested and the principal will remain intact. Each year, a percentage of the interest earned on the endowment is awarded as scholarship support.

Oncology Nursing Foundation Doctoral Scholarships

The Oncology Nursing Foundation sponsors doctoral scholarships, and Pfizer supports the Ann Olson Doctoral Scholarship. The aim of this scholarship is to offer scholarships to registered nurses who are involved in and dedicated to oncology nursing to further their education by completing a research doctorate (PhD or DNSc) or clinical doctorate degree (DNP).

Scholarships and Awards

In addition to scholarships offered by the university and the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences, Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University offers graduate program-specific scholarships in education. Description: This scholarship is for a new full-time, on-campus doctoral student in the Career and Technical Education program. Criteria for selection: This scholarship is for a new full-time, on-campus doctoral student in the Career and Technical Education program. Receiving the scholarship is contingent on being offered and accepting admission into the CTE doctoral program. Criteria for selection: Recipient shall be, at the time of receipt of the scholarship funds, a rising senior or a graduate student accepted into the VT Science Education program. Underrepresented Minority Scholarships

Open to incoming master’s and doctoral students, this fellowship is awarded to 25 students each year. Master’s students receive a full tuition scholarship for two years, plus a stipend. Doctoral students receive a full tuition scholarship for four years, plus a stipend. Open to incoming PhD students, this three-year fellowship provides a full tuition scholarship and an annual stipend of $25,000. Open to incoming doctoral students, this scholarship provides a one-time supplementary award of $3,000 in the student first fall semester.

Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship

Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Foundation, as stated in the enabling legislation, is to alleviate a critical current and future shortage of highly qualified scientists, mathematicians, and engineers. The Foundation will award scholarships to outstanding students, to be known as Barry M. Each scholarship covers eligible expenses for tuition, fees, books, and room and board, up to a maximum of $7,500 annually. Junior-level scholarship recipients are eligible for a maximum of two years of scholarship support, and senior-level scholarship recipients are eligible for a maximum of one year of scholarship support. The Trustees intend to award up to 300 Goldwater Scholarships. Institutions must submit complete nominations for Goldwater Scholarships to be received by early February.

Award Amount: $20,000 in the student’s final year of studyAwards Given: 1-2 Awards annuallyApplication Process: Students complete an application to be considered for this award. Application to most summer internship funding sources at FSPH is made through one centralized application form, which is generally made available to students in Winter quarter of each year.
