Smithsonian Institution Fellowships The Smithsonian Institution offers fellowships for research and study in the following fields: Animal behavior, ecology, and environmental science, including an emphasis on the tropics Anthropology, including archaeology, cultural anthropology, linguistics, and physical anthropology Astrophysics and astronomy Earth sciences and paleobiology Evolutionary and Systematic Biology Folklife History of science and technology History of art, especially American, contemporary, African, and Asian art, twentieth-century American crafts, and decorative arts Materials Research Molecular Biology Social and cultural History of the US. Fannie and John Hertz Foundation supports graduate students working towards the Ph.D. degree in the fields of applied physics, applied chemistry, applied mathematics, applied modern biology and all areas of engineering.

Outside Fellowships

The Smithsonian Institute offers fellowships for history, anthropology, environmental science, earth science, molecular biology, and materials research as well as interdisciplinary fields. The Energy offers initial one-year fellowships to graduate students in computer science, math, statistics, and other areas such as life sciences that involve computational research with a $37,000 annual stipend along with full coverage of tuition and fees. This award is renewable for up to four years following the DOE Computational Fellowship Guidelines .

Outside Fellowships

The Smithsonian Institute offers fellowships for history, anthropology, environmental science, earth science, molecular biology, and materials research as well as interdisciplinary fields. MolSSI awards both seed fellowships (six months of stipend, tuition and fees covered) and Investment Fellowships (18 months, collaboration project with MolSSI researchers) for graduate students and postdocs in any area of science and engineering with research on computational molecular sciences. The Energy (DOE) offers initial one-year fellowships to graduate students in computer science, math, statistics, and other areas such as life sciences that involve computational research with a $37,000 annual stipend along with full coverage of tuition and fees. This award is renewable for up to four years following the DOE Computational Fellowship Guidelines .

Smithsonian Fellowships and Internships

The Smithsonian Institution (SI) Postdoctoral Fellowship in Biodiversity Genomics promotes collaborative research in these fields involving comparative genomic approaches such as phylogenomics, population genomics, metagenomics or transcriptomics, and have a component that involves significant bioinformatics analysis. The Burch Fellowship Program is an opportunity that awards $60,000 per year plus allowances to post-doctoral scholars, whose research interests lie within medicine, biology, physics, chemistry, and fields in the social science and humanities, as it applies to health and medicine. Mpala Postdoctoral Fellows study biology, anthropology, geology, hydrology, material science, social science, soil science or related areas.

Fellowships Scholarships

Established in 1991, the Energy Computational Science Graduate Fellowship provides outstanding benefits and opportunities to students pursuing doctoral degrees in fields that use high-performance computing to solve complex science and engineering problems. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Dr. Nancy Foster Scholarship Program provides support for master’s and doctoral studies in oceanography, marine biology, maritime archaeology and all other science, engineering, social science and resource management disciplines involving ocean and coastal areas particularly by women and members of minority groups.
