Office of Student Financial Services

Before the opening day of instruction: 100 percent of semester tuition. On or before the second Friday following the opening day of instruction: 75 percent of semester tuition. On or before the fifth Friday following the opening day of instruction: 50 percent of semester tuition. Before the opening day of instruction through the last day of the registration period : 100 percent of the dropped course tuition fee. Graduate Assistantships Information

TA2s may have primary instructional responsibility for a course and may have autonomy for teaching, assigning grades, and providing laboratory instruction setup as part of a regularly scheduled course. Assistantships best serve the student, the hiring unit, and the student’s academic department when they are used as an integral component of the graduate education experience.

COVID-19 Emergency Grant Funding

One component of the CARES Act, the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund, provided funding to institutions of higher education, with at least half of the funding explicitly directed to provide emergency financial aid grants to students whose lives were disrupted by the pandemic, and the other half to help institutions pay for significant changes in the delivery of instruction that resulted from the pandemic. The government requires that CARES Act Institutional Portion funds be used to cover qualified costs associated with significant changes to the delivery of instruction due to the coronavirus.

If their financial aid payments exceed their charges, the extra funds may be issued to applicant as a refund, typically by the first week of instruction. Grants and Scholarships

The award is dedicated to helping preserve the open sharing of fresh ideas and to helping students artfully express these ideas at the American Association for Teaching Curriculum annual conference. This scholarship is awarded annually and is open to all Morgridge College of Education doctoral students. A financial stipend to support travel to the American Association for Teaching and Curriculum conference. Support in preparing a manuscript for submission to Curriculum and Teaching Dialogue, the peer-reviewed annual journal published by AATC.

Communication Studies supports graduate student education via Graduate Teaching Assistantships, Graduate Research Assistantships, and scholarships and fellowships. Buehler Outstanding First-Year Teaching Fellowship is given in recognition of outstanding instruction by a first-year graduate teaching assistant Any graduate student in good standing in the Communication Studies Department who is finishing their first year as a GTA.

Foreign Language and Area Studies Fellowships

Summer fellowships are to be used only for intensive language training at other institutions in the United States or abroad, and the training must provide the equivalent of a full academic year of instruction.
