School of Engineering Education - Engineering Education Grants

They have to date been underutilized in solving critical problems in the US educational system, particularly in understanding Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics learning and learning environments, broadening participation in STEM, and increasing retention for students traditionally underserved in STEM. GSE seeks to understand and address gender-based differences in science, technology, engineering and mathematics education and workforce participation through education and implementation research that will lead to a larger and diverse domestic STEM workforce. The merit of this work lies in the discovery of whether appealing to grades 5-8 students' personal interests can improve their perceptions of engineering and make them likely to pursue engineering as a career.

Seed Grant Program

The objective of this project is to develop fundamentally new paradigm of machine learning, namely the physics-guided machine learning , and to employ this new paradigm to assist theoretical physics research that has limited amount of data due to the high demands in computational resources. The advent of smart environments and a massive number of devices connected through IoT have led to an unprecedented generation of large amounts of data. With the seed grant from the Binghamton University Data Science Transdisciplinary Working Group, the team will implement an algorithm that PI Magleby developed with Daniel Mosesson on a high performance computing cluster.

Tuition Financial Aid

CEDAR will pioneer a new NSF traineeship model whereby NRT trainees join a community of scholars with expertise and interests that span chemical sciences , data sciences , social sciences, and communication, with convergent focus on advancement of the circular economy. The objective of the program is to offer doctoral fellowships to underrepresented women and minority students working in science, technology, engineering, math, or business disciplines. Bin Khaled Alshawaf, M.D. Graduate Engineering Distinguished Fellowship will provide tuition and stipend for a PhD or MS student to pursue a graduate degree at WPI, in any area of engineering. The WPI Computer Science is seeking candidates for Graduate Assistance in Areas of National Need PhD Fellowships in data-driven computing research.
