Stipends given by the Asian Studies range from $1,000 $15,000, and may include supplements for tuition and fees and medical insurance. Graduate Student Funding from the Asian Studies. Most awards made by the Asian Studies to its graduate students do not require a separate application. Priority is given to graduate students in the Asian Studies graduate students should note on their annual report if they are interested in a teaching assistant position. The following fellowships are awarded to Asian Studies graduate students by the Graduate Studies Committee based on merit and or financial need. East Asia Graduate Fellowship Amount: $1,000-20,000 Funds will be awarded for tuition, living expenses, and overseas research to graduate students working on East Asia.
Funding Asian Studies Program
The Asian Studies Achievement Scholarship is offered each fall semester by the Asian Studies Program based on availability of funds each year. Continuing students, however, should send the Asian Studies Achievement Scholarship Application form directly to Chizuko Allen by February 1. Scholarship is open to international students. This fellowship is available to full-time Asian Studies M.A. students only. The Asian Studies Program has two teaching assistantships currently available for each academic year. Fellowships are granted on an annual basis but may be renewed depending in part on timely and satisfactory progress toward completion of the degree and East-West Center requirements. East West Center Fellowship and Housing
Graduate students from any country, whose research or interests involve the Asia Pacific region, can apply to join The Center and become a life-long member of East-West Center community. Undertaking degree studies at UHM through an East-West Center fellowship is not merely receiving a financial aid scholarship.
