The Medical Student Research Training (MSRT) program provides mentored support for medical students interested in taking a year off from their medical school studies to work in an academic research lab. The RSNA Research Medical Student Grant gives medical students the opportunity to gain research experience in medical imaging while still in medical school. FASPE Medical, a component of a larger program that works with students in various fields, uses the conduct of doctors and other medical professionals in Nazi Germany and the Holocaust as a launching point for an intensive course of study on medical ethics.
Financial Information for the School of Medicine
As one of the first merit scholarship programs for medical students, the Distinguished Student Scholarship Program has recognized and rewarded academic excellence and personal achievement for years. And, to honor outstanding alumni of Washington University, the Medical Center Alumni Association created in 1989 the Distinguished Alumni Scholarship Program. In 1998, the Barnes-Jewish Hospital Medical Staff Association committed to funding one full-tuition, four-year scholarship to a student in each entering class. Selection of the Barnes-Jewish Hospital Medical Staff Association Scholar is the same as for the Distinguished Student Scholarship. Established in 1988 to provide scholarship support to financially deserving medical students. Established in 1998 by the Barnes-Jewish Hospital Medical Staff Association to provide financial assistance to students based on academic excellence.
DCT COLLEGE OF HEALTH AND SCIENCES SCHOLARSHIP This scholarship will be available to all students in the College of Health and Sciences, with priority given to students pursuing a master’s degree in a discipline housed in the College of Health and Sciences at the time of the award. HIGGINBOTHAM FAMILY PHYSICS SCHOLARSHIP This scholarship will be awarded at the discretion of the Physics department. MUSC Center for Global Health
The Global Forum for Health Research provides evidence, tools and discussion forums for decision-makers in research funding and policy to improve the health of poor populations through research for health. Pfizer Inc supports medical innovation in a wide range of disciplines through the university Medical Academic Partnerships grants and awards. The goal of the awards is to assist recipients in furthering global health research or training projects in low or middle-income countries. Funds may be used for pre-travel immunizations, visa passport fees, airfare, program fees, and room and board related to their global health experience. The goal of the awards is to assist recipients in providing mentorship to students in furthering global health research or training projects in low or middle-income countries.

The VCU Medical Center and the affiliated Hunter Holmes McGuire Veterans Affairs Medical Center provide excellent venues for subspecialty training. Trainees spend time at both McGuire Veterans Affairs Medical Center and Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center. The Geriatric Medicine Fellowship Training Program offered at VCU Medical Center and Hunter Holmes McGuire VA Medical Center is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education. Graduates of the Infectious Diseases Fellowship program are well qualified to pursue careers in clinical practice, academic medicine, public health or industry. The fellowship in infectious diseases at VCU Medical Center is fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education for a five-year period, the maximum approval possible.
Health Professions Advising
The the students.S. Health and Human Services offers some need-based, low-interest loans to medical students. Testing Interventions for Health-Enhancing Physical Activity
Intervention design should be based on theories from minority health and health disparities science. Settings of interest include but are not limited to low-resourced urban neighborhoods and communities, rural communities, small municipalities, and or delivered within health care settings for medically underserved, e.g., Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) or Tribal healthcare centers or with disparity populations within any health care system. Thus, criteria in research protocols that target or exclude certain populations are warranted where nondiscriminatory justifications establish that such criteria are appropriate with respect to the health or safety of the subjects, the scientific study design, or the purpose of the research.
The interest from this endowed scholarship, in memory of Dr. Wells, is awarded annually to a medical student from South Carolina who has a demonstrated need. A permanent endowment, with the interest being awarded to second-, third and fourth-year medical students in good academic standing and in financial need. The income of a fund, established by the Waring family to honor the memory of their father and grandfather, provides a scholarship for a medical student who has completed the sopho year. Scholarship awarded annually to medical students based on financial need, academic achievement and documented leadership skills. An annual award made to medical students with high scholastic achievement and in need of financial assistance.
Tuition and Financial Aid
Rush University requires students to be covered by a health insurance plan in order to promote health and well-being while protecting the individual from undue financial hardship that a medical emergency could cause. Non-Rush Medical College students may opt out of the student health insurance by providing proof of existing coverage during their first term of enrollment and then every fall term thereafter. Though it may be possible for a medical student to complete all degree requirements prior to the spring term of the fourth year, a full four years of tuition charges must be paid prior to graduation. Employment through the Federal Work-Study program may be possible throughout Rush University Medical Center and its affiliates.
