Luckily, American Indian scholarship opportunities exist for those students who are dedicated to beating the odds and earning a degree. A variety of American Indian scholarships exist to help students attain a college education that will benefit not only them, but their families and communities. In some instances, tribal scholarships or other local scholarshipsare available to American Indian students, though often the award amounts fall significantly shy of the actual cost of attending college. The American Indian Services College Scholarship is awarded to Native American students who are enrolled members of a the students.S. Federally Recognized American Indian or Alaska Native Tribe. Udall Native American Congressional Internship internship positions for Native American Indians and Alaska Natives in Washington, DC, for a summer college juniors, seniors or recent graduates and graduate or law students. The American Indian Nurse Scholarship is offered to students of American Indian, Alaska Native, or Native Hawaiian heritage pursuing a degree in nursing or a similar healthcare field.

National Fellowship Opportunities - Graduate School

American Indian Science Engineering Society The American Indian Science and Engineering Society is a national, nonprofit organization focused on substantially increasing the representation of American Indians, Alaska Natives, Native Hawaiians, Pacific Islanders, First Nations and other indigenous peoples of North America in science, technology, engineering and math studies and careers.

Scholarship Opportunities

Eligible applicants must be one of the following: an enrolled member of a federally recognized tribe eligible for enrollment in a federally recognized tribe recognized as a descendant of a federally recognized tribe identified as American Indian by the Indian Education Act identified as Canadian Indian by the Indian Act RSC 1985, CI-5. The Udall Foundation has internship and scholarship program opportunities for American Indian and Alaska Native Students. The Native American Congressional Internship Program provides American Indian and Alaska Native students with the opportunity to gain practical experience with the federal legislative process in order to understand first-hand the government-to-government relationship between Tribes and the federal government. The internship is funded by the Native Nations Institute for Leadership, Management, and Policy.

American Indian College Fund Full Circle Scholarships: Requirements for eligibility for the American Indian College Fund Full Circle Scholarship include: U.S. citizenship full-time enrollment in a graduate program at an accredited public, private (non-profit), or tribal college or university registration as a member of a federal or state recognized tribe, or a descendant of at least one grandparent or parent who is an enrolled tribal member (Alaska Natives may use Native Corporation membership) and a minimum grade point average of 2.0. American Indian Graduate Center (AIGC) Fellowship for Native American Graduate Students: The AIGC Fellowship program provides approximately $1,200,000 in fellowships to than four hundred American Indian and Alaska Native graduate and professional students each year.

Council of American Overseas Research Centers The Council of American Overseas Research Centers offers Ph.D. candidates who are in the dissertation writing stage of their doctoral work and Post-doctoral scholars researchers an opportunity to fund regional and trans-regional research. Fulbright Grants for Graduate Study Abroad Sponsored by the Institute for International Education.

The recipients of the William Lonnie Revels, Sr. Memorial Scholarship shall be native residents of North Carolina majoring in American Indian Studies, Education, or Business at UNCP.
