External Fellowships

IBM Scholars Ph.D. Fellowship Program The IBM Ph.D. Fellowship Program is intended to honor exceptional Ph.D. students in disciplines of mutual interest, including: chemistry, computer science, electrical engineering, materials science, mathematics, mechanical engineering, and physics, as well as emerging technical fields, such as e-commerce, nanotechnology, and the computational sciences. U.S. Energy Civilian Radioactive Waste Management Graduate Fellowship Program This fellowship is for graduate students in fields related to the regulation of high-level radioactive waste and spent nuclear fuel: engineering, radiation sciences, earth sciences and material sciences.

Interdisciplinary Opportunities in the Humanities and Social Sciences

Digital Scholarship Lab is able to host one fellow whose dissertation research employs methodologies related to data visualization, digital humanities, geospatial data analysis or broadly the use of technology in the study of visual and material culture.

External fellowships

The IBM Ph.D. Fellowship Awards is an intensely competitive program that honors exceptional Ph.D. students in many academic disciplines and areas of study, for example: computer science and engineering, electrical and mechanical engineering, physical sciences (including chemistry, material sciences, and physics), mathematical sciences (including optimization), business sciences (including financial services, communication, and learning knowledge), and service sciences, management, and engineering. Sandia research focus areas are: bioscience, computing and information science, engineering science, materials science, nanodevices and microsystems, radiation effects and high energy physics, and geosciences.

Fellowships Scholarships

Eligible applicants for Hertz Fellowships must be students of the applied physical and biological sciences, mathematics and engineering. The National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellowship Program awards over 100 fellowships each year to graduate students in the fields of science and engineering. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Dr. Nancy Foster Scholarship Program provides support for master’s and doctoral studies in oceanography, marine biology, maritime archaeology and all other science, engineering, social science and resource management disciplines involving ocean and coastal areas particularly by women and members of minority groups. The National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program awards three-year scholarships for graduate study in mathematical, physical, biological, engineering and behavioral and social sciences, including the history of science.
