College of the Arts scholarships have been established to support students majoring in dance, music, theatre, and visual arts. Established By: This endowed scholarship was established by Dr. Carol Channing and Mr. Harry Kullijian to honor the legacy of Dr. Carol Channing’s six decades in a performing arts career and to encourage academic excellence in the arts. Established By: This scholarship is funded by the Leo Freedman Foundation to recognize and support students enrolled in a Master of Fine Arts program in the College of the Arts. Open to: This scholarship is open to incoming or continuing Visual Arts MA or MFA students.
Scholarships and Financial Aid
The Leslie Scalapino Award will be offered each year to one MFA Creative Writing and Poetics or MFA Creative Writing student attending the Summer Writing Program who has a body of work in the field of experimental postmodern women poetry and poetics. The Institute of American Indian Arts Award is given annually to one current student enrolled at the Institute of American Indian Arts, who will be attending the Summer Writing Program. Degree-seeking students taking the program for graduate or credit may be eligible for federal financial aid if enrolled for at least 6 credits Naropa BA and MFA student should complete the FAFSA by March 1.
Cost, Scholarships and Financial Aid
Each year Pacific offers partial scholarships to selected students entering the MFA program. These include a limited number of MFA Merit Scholarships, including the Pearl Scholarship, which is awarded to an exceptional student in any genre The Mapmakers Scholarship, which is awarded to exceptional students of color and the Scruggshaw Poetry Scholarship, which is awarded to exceptional poetry students. MFA students can borrow up to $20,500 per year in the Federal Unsubsidized Loan. This program offers incoming MFA students unsubsidized loans.
Fellowships and Grant Agencies in the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences
Creative Capital provides advising and financing to artists pursuing adventurous projects in Emerging Fields, Film Video, Literature, Performing Arts and Visual Arts. The Institute’s grant initiatives aim to strengthen art history as a global discipline, advance conservation practice, and support current and future leaders in the visual arts. The foundation offers grants for institutions for library projects and the performing arts, and for individuals it offers the Venetian research grants for one-year projects. Offers NAEA grants for research in arts education and opportunities to participate in arts delegations abroad. Offers 12-month Artist Fellowship grants to visual artists and literary and performing artists Nevada Humanities makes grants to institutions to support humanities projects and programs that promote community.
Grants Division of the Arts UW–Madison
The Madison Arts Commission’s Grants foster arts appreciation by initiating partnerships, developing new audiences, and sponsoring diverse artistic activities by emerging and established artists and arts organizations. Grants are made for scholarly exhibitions at museums curatorial research visual arts programming at artist-centered organizations artist residencies and commissions arts writing and efforts to promote the health, welfare and first amendment rights of artists. Arts Midwest Touring Fund engages people in meaningful experiences with the fine arts of dance, music, theater or musical theater, and other performing arts forms. A large number of Fulbright grants are offered to applicants in the performing and visual arts each year. Students must be enrolled at UW–Madison as a dissertator in a graduate program or be an MFA student.
Types of Financial Aid
To for a Visual Arts Scholarship, submit all materials for University admission as well as their portfolio and essay by January 15. The terms and conditions of all loans are explained in the Master Promissory Note which all borrowers must complete and sign. Instructions for completing the Master Promissory Note are included in the Financial Aid Award Guide.
Scholarships in College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences at NSU
Applicants must 1) be enrolled at the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences 2) demonstrate financial need 3) demonstrate academic excellence through a GPA of 3.0. Award Amount: Stipend up to a maximum of $15,600 per year, paid bi-weekly. To qualify, students must be an international student enrolled in a graduate degree program in the Conflict Resolution Studies at the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences. Background: The Quell Bridge-the-Gap Scholarships will provide support to DFT Master’s students in the first 4 terms of the program who have maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout their time in the program. Background: This scholarship is available to full-time CAHSS students enrolled in a degree program in the Performing and Visual Arts.
The Hispanic Scholarship Fund McNamara Family Creative Arts Project Grant is available to Hispanic or graduate students in the creative arts field. Applicant must be majoring in the arts, including but not limited to media, film, performing arts, communications or writing and have at least a 3.0 GPA to be eligible for this award. The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation has launched a new scholarship program to help cultivate the next generation of great artists and writers with the establishment of the Jack Kent Cooke Graduate Arts Award. Provides tuition plus stipend to assist students in studies for MFA and doctoral-level degrees in selected fields of the arts, humanities, and social sciences.

Worldstudio Foundation Scholarships students in studio design and the visual arts minority students are particularly encouraged to apply. The Against The Grain Artistic Scholarship provides financial assistance and promotion of Asian-American college students pursuing a major in the performing, visual arts, journalism and or mass communications.

Burruss Scholarship Endowment provides support to students pursuing a degree in the following: Studio Art Studies, Art with a concentration in Studio Art Visual Studies, or a Masters in Studio Art Studies. Marilyn Sauer Scholarship provides a scholarship to a student enrolled in the master’s degree program in Educational Administration at CSUSB and has a minimum GPA of 3.5. Ferguson Endowed Education Scholarship Fund provides support to students enrolled in the College of Education with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Patricia Arlin Scholarship provides scholarships to students in a master’s program in the College of Education with a minimum GPA of 3.5. Shelby Obershaw Teacher Education Scholarship provides an award to a student in a teacher preparation program leading to the multiple subject or single subject credential at CSUSB.
