UT College of Liberal Arts

East Asia Graduate Fellowship Amount: $1,000-20,000 Funds will be awarded for tuition, living expenses, and overseas research to graduate students working on East Asia. The Center for East Asian Studies invites applications from graduate students throughout the university, but priority will be given to students in the College of Liberal Arts. Application and Awards Schedule: Applications for grant awards are due March 1 of each year at the front desk of the Asian Studies Rarely do awards exceed $4,000 and most are given for less. Applicable expenses include airfare, per diem expenses, supplies necessary for the research process , tuition to language programs, and other expenses necessary for completing the research or study specified in the grant.

Summer Funding Opportunities

Deadline: MarchDomestic students only The Institute of Turkish Studies offers grants and fellowships in the field of Ottoman and Modern Turkish Studies to graduate students through its grant program. Center for Turkish Studies will offer up to five competitive summer fellowships for doctoral students in any area of Turkish Studies, including the study of Turkish-speaking peoples from ancient periods to the modern as well as the study of cultures and civilizations in the former territories of the Ottoman Empire and within the borders of the modern Republic of Turkey.

East West Center Fellowship and Housing

Graduate students from any country, whose research or interests involve the Asia Pacific region, can apply to join The Center and become a life-long member of East-West Center community. Undertaking degree studies at UHM through an East-West Center fellowship is not merely receiving a financial aid scholarship. Since the basic purpose of the East-West Center is to build a sense of Asia-Pacific community and prepare for future leadership roles, EWC graduate student fellows live together and interact with each other in both intellectual and social activities.
