Their generous bequest makes possible an award of $2,000 to be given annually to a doctoral student at a university in the United States or Canada for dissertation research in French history that reflects the Wolfs' interest in and contributions to the study of European history. The award is administered by the Society for French Historical Studies and the Western Society for French History. The purpose of the award is to help educators and researchers improve education in standard French language, literature and culture and in the study of standard French in the United States.

Award preference will be given to students who are either majoring or minoring in Southeast Asian Studies through the South Southeast Asian Studies or who otherwise demonstrate a commitment to Southeast Asian Studies.

Grants, Scholarships Study Opportunities in the Nordic Countries

FLAS fellowships may be used to fund academic year study abroad pending approval of the study abroad program by the the students.S. Education. The scholarship supports semester or academic year-long study at recognized Danish institutions of higher education in the fields of humanities and social sciences, as well as in architecture, engineering, technology and related fields. The Icelandic Ministry of Education, Science and Culture awards annually a number of scholarships for studies in Icelandic as a second language at the University of Iceland, Reykjavík. The scholarship program is administrated by the Árni Magnússon Institute for Icelandic Studies. The American Scandinavian foundation offers grants and fellowships for studies, research or art projects in Scandinavian countries for up to one year.

Funding

The French is committed to providing full funding to all doctoral students for the duration of the PhD degree. Beginning in their second year, and during the third and fifth years, graduate students teach one course per semester in the French language program.

French, Francophone Italian Studies

Lecturer positions in French are also available for graduate students in other departments such as International Studies, Political Science and American Studies.

Fellowships Scholarships

Tucker Dissertation Fellowship Program for Russian Historical Studies supports the next generation of the students.S. scholars in Russian studies. The Council for European Studies invites eligible graduate students in the humanities to for the Mellon-CES Dissertation Completion Fellowships in European Studies. The Smith Richardson Foundation sponsors an annual World Politics and Statecraft Fellowship program, its annual grant competition to support PhD dissertation research on American foreign policy, international relations, international security, strategic studies, area studies, and diplomatic and military history.

Scholarships and Financial Aid

Hamm Memorial Gender Women Studies Scholarship is offered through the Gender and Women Studies Department at California State University, Northridge. The Barbara Ann Ward Scholarship for Spanish studies recognizes students who demonstrate academic excellence in Spanish studies. The Robert Barbera Endowment for Italian Studies is a yearly fellowship of approximately $1500 offered to full-time Cal State Northridge students with a declared minor in Italian or major in languages and cultures with an option in Italian. The fellowship is intended to fund Italian study abroad programs recognized and sanctioned by Cal State Northridge, internships with Italian firms or institutions, activities promoting Italian language and culture at Northridge and in the community, or a standard fellowship.

U-M LSA History of Art

The Institute of International Education administers the competition for many of the grants supporting graduate study and research abroad that are offered by the Fulbright Program in over 100 countries. The IIE Fulbright programs include grants for research, study and travel for selected countries, and various other opportunities including teaching assistantships in English. Lurcy Foundation Fellowship for Study in France The grantee will receive a $25,000 stipend for study in France.
