Fulbright-National Geographic Storytelling Fellowship

The Fulbright-National Geographic Storytelling Fellowship, which is part of the Fulbright U.S. Student Program, allows Fulbright US Student Study/Research grantees to partake in a year of storytelling on an internationally important subject. The National Geographic Society and the US Department of State have partnered to make this Fellowship possible. The Fulbright-National Geographic Storytelling Fellowship will consider proposals for the 2022-2023 competition to conduct an in-depth investigation of an internationally important topic as an addition to their Fulbright research or arts program. Oceans, Land, Wildlife, Human History & Cultures, and Human Ingenuity are the priority fields of the National Geographic Society. To share their stories, storytellers may use a range of storytelling resources, such as poetry, painting, film, audio/podcasts, charts, or visual illustrations.

Gaither Junior Fellows Program Each year, the junior fellows program offers approximately 10-12 one-year fellowships through the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace to uniquely qualified graduating seniors and individuals who have graduated during the past academic year. National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program The NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program helps ensure the vitality of the human resource base of science and engineering in the United States and reinforces its diversity. The program has awarded 161 fellowships since 1987 and confers fellowships twice yearly, in the spring and fall.

Resources for Funding Your Education

Area of Focus: The purpose of this fellowship is to assist in unique projects and research focused on global and intercultural education, which could include working with global educational systems or learners, adapting pedagogies and resources to be accessible to learners from a wide range of cultural backgrounds, supporting intercultural education and advocacy, or projects that help enhance diversity and equity. Area of Focus: The purpose of this fellowship is to assist in unique projects and research focused on improving educational outcomes for youth who are vulnerable or whose families have been involved with the child welfare system, the juvenile justice system, the immigration system, or other health or welfare-based organizations or government agencies. Fellowship amounts usually range from $6,000 $8,000 up to a maximum of $12,000.

Graduate Financial Aid

Get support for their graduate studies with graduate financial aid. All graduate students must complete the FAFSA to be considered for aid. A long-term federal student loan program that provides a 10-year repayment period. The opportunity to work eight to 16 hours a week in professional offices and academic departments on campus in lieu of either an hourly rate or tuition waiver, depending on the type of position. Applications and position descriptions, for fully admitted students, can be found on MyUSJ, under the Graduate Tab. Many companies will offer to pay a portion of their tuition for course work in a related field of study. Limited scholarship opportunities may be available from USJ academic departments.

Graduate Fellowships at K-State

Various fellowships, scholarships, and grants are available to provide to graduate students as they begin their graduate program, during, and as they near graduation and prepare for their professional career. The Sarachek Predoctoral Honors Fellowship provides an award of $17,600 to a graduate student enrolled in a Ph.D. program at Kansas State University. The National Science Foundation established a National Research Traineeship program at Kansas State University, The Rural Resources Resiliency NSF Research Traineeship, to overcome these challenges. Students should also consult with their department program and college for scholarship and fellowship opportunities.
