The College of Engineering offers scholarships to students entering engineering and to students already enrolled in an engineering major. The income from the fund shall be used to provide scholarship assistance to a meritorious student enrolled in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Maine. The income from this fund is to be used to provide scholarship to student from the State of Maine majoring in Engineering at the University of Maine at Oro with first preference to be given to students in Mechanical Engineering on the basis of academic excellence and not need. The income from the fund shall be used to support a meritorious student enrolled in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Maine.

Pott Engineering Scholarships are awarded solely on the basis of interest in the engineering career field and demonstrated academic ability. Criteri Engineering student preference to civil engineering can be awarded based on need or merit. The MSU Mechanical Engineering offers than 50 scholarships to mechanical engineering students each year for a total of approximately $110,000 in amounts ranging from $500 to $5,000. There are separate selection processes for obtaining scholarships for incoming freshmen, transfer students, and current mechanical engineering students. Current mechanical engineering students become eligible for department scholarships by completing one scholarship application annually. Mechanical engineering scholarship awards are made by the Department’s representative to the College’s Awards and Financial Aid Committee. The Mechanical Engineering Emergency Scholarship Fund exists to assist the university students through unforeseen and unavoidable emergencies that may arise while a Purdue Mechanical Engineering student. Only current Purdue Mechanical Engineering students on the West Lafayette Campus may apply for these emergency scholarships. If a student is awarded a Mechanical Engineering Emergency Scholarship, they do not have to be repaid. The Mechanical Engineering Emergency Scholarship Committee will review applications and determine the appropriate funding amount.

The Meyerhoff Scholars Program has been at the forefront of efforts to increase diversity among future leaders in science, engineering, and related fields. Meyerhoff Scholars are intentionally invited to participate in the Summer Engineering Pre PhD Research Program.

Mechanical Engineering Graduate Scholarships
A scholarship is made annually to Mechanical Engineering graduate students with superior academic achievement in the area of thermal sciences or fluid mechanics. The Sharada Devi Planjery Memorial Award supports two scholarships in the amount of $2500 each to deserving students in the College of Engineering’s Mechanical Engineering program.
