Yale MacMillan Center South Asian Studies
Funds are administered by the South Asian Studies Council at the MacMillan Center. The South Asian Studies Council is pleased to announce the availability of a limited number of awards for qualified graduate students who wish to conduct pre-dissertation summer research or immersion language study in South Asia that is relevant to their doctoral work at Yale. The South Asian Studies Council at The MacMillan Center offers Rustgi fellowships for summer research grants to students with a demonstrated commitment to the field of South Asian studies.
Foreign Language and Area Studies Fellowships
Award preference will be given to students who are either majoring or minoring in Southeast Asian Studies through the South Southeast Asian Studies or who otherwise demonstrate a commitment to Southeast Asian Studies.
South Asia Center
Many fellowships are available to support studies at UW, language training, study abroad, and dissertation research and writing. Academic year fellowships support language study and area studies coursework at the University of Washington. Graduate students in any discipline, including international students, who are engaged in the study of South Asia. Eligibility: and graduate students enrolled at the University of Washington who demonstrate a serious academic interest in South Asia by virtue of successfully completing at least 15 credits of South Asia-related courses by the end of the period in which they hold the IAWW Scholarship. While there is no service requirement attached to CLS Program awards, participants are expected to continue their language study beyond the scholarship period, and later their critical language skills in their future professional careers.
Fulbright in South Pacific Asian NationsThe Fulbright Program offers grants to qualified graduate students of Fiji, Kiribati, Nauru, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, and Vanuatu to study at the graduate level in the United States.
Funding For Students
The Connie Chin Memorial Prize for Writing in East Asian Studies awards $500 for outstanding writing in an essay, term paper, or thesis, within the area of East Asian Studies. East Asian Studies Fellowship for Study of Women in Asia. Competitive fellowship for the Study of Women in Asia provides stipend plus three quarters TGR tuition for one academic year, to support dissertation research or write-up on topics related to women in Asia. Current Stanford graduate students specializing in Jewish Studies are eligible for several forms of supplementary plus opportunities for additional funding for language, research, or conferences. The Center for Latin American Studies invites proposals for Stanford graduate students to attend and present on topics related to Latin America at academic conferences.

The Academic Year FLAS Fellowship supports language study in less commonly taught languages and related area studies. FLAS fellowships for the study of Asian languages and area studies at UNC are administered by the Carolina Asia Center. Summer FLAS Fellowships support intensive summer language study for students. Summer FLAS fellowships for the study of Asian languages are administered by the Carolina Asia Center. The fellowship is administered by a student-led South Asian awareness organization—SANGAM—with the administrative support of the Carolina Asia Center. Weir Fellows spend the spring semester in Beijing for intensive language study and then complete an eight-week summer internship in either Beijing or Shanghai, exploring careers in fields such as banking, law, journalism, public health, and historic preservation.

Special consideration will be given to projects for which there are fewer sources of funding offered through other campus entities The Committee on Ethnicity, Migration, Rights and the Observatorio of Instituto Cervantes at Harvard award summer grants to assist Harvard juniors with research for a senior honors thesis in areas related to Latinx Studies. The Whitney and Betty MacMillan Center for International and Area Studies at Yale
The Council on East Asian Studies offers the CEAS Summer Language Mini-Grants to Yale University graduate students for summer language study of Chinese, Japanese, Korean, or other East Asian languages Award: Grants generally range from $1,500 to $6,000 and can be applied to tuition, room and board at summer language programs, as well as expenses in hiring tutors for specialized, advanced language training. The Whitney and Betty MacMillan Center for International and Area Studies announces the availability of pre-dissertation grants to aid graduate students in their pre-doctoral dissertation research. Applicants are encouraged to obtain support from other sources, bearing in mind that any given student is only eligible to receive the MacMillan International Pre-Dissertation Research Fellowships once during the course of their Ph.D. studies.
